Use it or Lose it
Here it is the middle of December and I have almost $800.00 of my flex money (out of $1000.00) to use before the end of the month. Kristy got me an appointment with the eye doctor - thought I could get some new glasses with my money. Well, he checked the fluid levels (tear production) and it seems I'm 2/3 low. His solution is 1 tsp of flax seed mixed in yogurt or juice in the mornings and two salmon oil tabs at night. I also have to increase my water intake and decrease my diet coke intake. :( He's big on contacts and gave me yet another pair to try. If I can make my eyes more moist, I may be more successful with contacts.
I still got glasses however - and put as many bells and whistles on them as possible. They include: the silhouette frame, (it's a mystery that a frameless frame is the most expensive), the newest in technology lens plus a crysol finish (an extra $120) and the transition lenses (+$100.00). They came to $750.00 and that is with a 20% discount!! Brent thinks I got ripped off and I probably did, but I'd rather waste the money on glasses than give it to IHC!

That looks sick! Sorry you have to do that. The thing is I am probley low on tears alos. LAME! I love diet coke I don't think I will be able to quit. I like it to much! O-Well I guess I just wont have watery eyes. It's something I guess I am going to have to live with. I like the drink to much!
Mother - you of ALL people shouldn't have this problem. You are always telling us to drink plenty of water!! Time to switch to decaf! All that caffeine is drying you up.
That is kind of funny. I have NEVER thought that tear production could be an issue. Weird.
I can't BELIEVE you had $800.00 left in your flex plan. That is CRAZY! We always run out by March or April. Sheesh.
Can't wait to see your glasses! Oooo-lala!
I can't wait to see your glasses, too. They better be good for $750! Holy cow!
I'm gonna try your moisturizing routine - that's very interesting.
I'm shocked at the $750 price tag for glasses. I feel ripped off if I have to spend $150. My insurance does not cover glasses though so I go the super cheap route, and rarely wear them anyways. I have been eating flax seed in my oatmeal and taking fish oil capsules for awhile. I had no idea it was good for eye moisture. I thought the omega 3 was more for the heart. I don't think this info motivates me to cut back on diet coke - I can't believe it drys you out that much.
I can't wait to see the new specs.
I bet you'll love the new glasses! Thank you so much for giving me a much needed break from my little man. Knowing I would have Sat off got me through the week of teething.
